Good morning,

The MSCI ASIA lost 0.6% and in Thailand the baht lost ground for the eleventh  consecutive session.  The Shanghai Shenzhen CSI lost 0.35% at 2,321.98 points and in South Korea the Kospi Composite lost 44.15 points at 1,967.19 (-2.20%).

In continental Europe equities started the 2014 with a positive sign. In Germany the DAX is trading at 9,562.39 (+0.11%) and the STOXX50 is at 3,113.29.

In the currency market the EurUsd is at 1.3725 (-0.28%), down 37 pips and the UsdJpy is consolidating above 105 at 105.32 (+0.07%). GbpUsd just lost area 1.66 and is trading at 1.6572 (+0.03%).   UsdCad is flat at 1.0632 and AudUsd is trading at 0.8889 (+0.04%).

If the FX market is calm this morning precious metals are having a positive momentum:  Gold is trading at 1,221 $/ounce (+1.37%) and Silver is doing even better at 20$/ounce (+2.7%).

Energy commodities are gaining: Crude oil is at 98.91 $/barrel (+0.40%) and Natural Gas at 4.24 $/BTU (+0.24%).

In Europe and UK will be released the Markit Manufacturing PMI and in US at 13:30 GMT will be released the Jobless Claim figures and at 15:00 GMT  Institute of Supply Management will release the ISM manufacturing  and prices paid data.
