FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS BY NSFX 09.01.2017

Good morning,

Japanese markets remain closed today for the Coming of Age Day holiday. USDJPY was trading at 117.37 at time of writing. Australia published last November's Building Permits figures, and December's ANZ Job Advertisements for December. AUDUSD trading at 0.7309 at time of writing. In the coming 24 hours we will get Retail Sales figures out of Australia and Consumer Confidence figures out of Japan.

In Europe this session there will be Industrial Production figures along with Trade Balances out of Germany to kick off the session. Trade Balances will follow from Finland, Romania, Denmark, Austria and Hungary this morning. Shortly afterwards the Swiss Real Retail Sales figures for November will be announced. EURCHF trading at 1.0725 at time of writing. CABLE has dropped to below 1.22 for the first time this year, as British PM Teresa May made a Brexit statement over the weekend. GBPUSD was trading at 1.2184 at time of writing.

Stateside today we will hear from Boston Federal Reserve President Eric Rosengren to start off the session. A quiet day ahead on the data front, with only the Labor Market Conditions Index and Canada's BoC Business Outlook Survey along with another speech from Dennis Lockhart of the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank on the agenda for today. GOLD was trading at $1177 per ounce while USOIL was trading at around $54 per barrel at time of writing.
