In Asia over the course of the trading session there Australian Home Loans figures were out higher than had been expected at 1.6% AUDUSD trading at 0.7936 The Japanese Leading Economic Indicator reading of 105.5 improved on the previous reading of 104.7; however the Coincident Index fell to 109.5 from 110.7 USDJPY trading at 120.11

The NIKKEI closed at 19624.84 following today’s session.

In Europe today we will see Swedish Consumer Price Index figures, followed by British Industrial and Manufacturing Production figures. USDSEK trades for 8.2609 at time of writing while EURGBP trades at 0.7199 The NIESR GDP Estimate from the UK will be out later in the session. Tomorrow in the UK the Quarterly Inflation Report and Bank of England Governor Mark Carney is scheduled to speak.

The FTSE100 was trading at 6958.01 while the DAX was trading at 11499.81 both in the red early in the session.

Across the Atlantic today we will see another quiet day regards data releases with just the JOLTS Job Openings figures for March, the monthly budget statement for April and the Federal Reserve of San Francisco President, John C. Williams scheduled to speak. April Retail Sales figures expected to be the main data out of the US tomorrow. EURUSD trading at 1.1240 while USDCAD trades at 1.2082

The DOW closed at 18105.17 falling 85.94 points or minus 0.47%
