Good morning,
Japan’s Eco Watchers Survey results were an improvement on the previous readings, with USDJPY trading at 119.85 Chinese Retail Sales figures, Industrial Production and Urban Investment results for April all fell below expectations. New Zealand’s bank lending practices in the Auckland area will now require borrowers to pay a 30% deposit on the purchase price of residential property. NZDUSD trading at 0.7395
The NIKKEI closed at 19764.72 gaining 139.88 points or 0.71%
In Europe today the Bank of England Governor, Mark Carney, will speak for the first time in six weeks after the blackout in the run in to the recent general election. GBPUSD trading at 1.5694, with a 2015 high of 1.5710 reached during yesterday’s session. German GDP grew by 0.3% which was below the 0.5% expected. French GDP however was out slightly higher than expected, at 0.6% when 0.4% growth had been forecast. Italian and Euro Zone GDP figures to follow. Other data of interest today will include the British Unemployment Rate. EURGBP trading at 0.7170
The FTSE100 was trading at 6956.28 while the DAX was trading at 11524.80 early in the session.
Across the Atlantic today US Retail Sales figures for April are going to be published. EURUSD trading at 1.1252 at time of writing. USOIL trading at $62.19 per barrel early in the European session, with EIA crude Oil Stocks change due to be announced later in the day. Canadian figures tomorrow will include the Housing Price Index followed by the Bank of Canada Review. USDCAD trading at 1.2005
The DOW closed at 18068.23 following Tuesday’s session, down 36.94 points; minus 0.20%
