FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS BY NSFX 18.12.2014

Good morning,

Overnight New Zealand published updated GDP figures with 1% growth in the third quarter. NZDUSD trading at 0.7718 The Bank of Japan will give their Monetary Policy Statement and a press conference follows within the next 24 hours. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will spend up to 3.4-3.5 trillion yen in a stimulus package. The USDJPY pair was trading at 118.70 at time of writing.

The NIKKEI was trading at 17210.05 up 390.32 points or 2.32%

European markets opened this morning with the news that the Swiss National Bank has unexpectedly dropped interest rates to -0.25% EURCHF trading at 1.2075 following the sharp move this morning following the breaking news. IFO Business Climate and Current Assessment figures from Germany will follow the IFO Expectations for December this morning. Retails Sales figures from Britain and Euro Zone Construction Output figures will also be published today. EURGBP trading at 0.7910 with CABLE trading at 1.5569

The FTSE100 opened at 6405 while the DAX opened at 9670 this session.

Across the Atlantic yesterday FED Chair Janet Yellen delivered the Monetary Policy Statement and gave a press conference. EURUSD trading at 1.2315 Jobless Claims figures will be published in the US today, as will the provisional Markit PMI figures. Looking ahead to tomorrow Canadian Consumer Price Index figures are due for release. USDCAD trading at 1.1623 at time of writing, while USOIL trades at $56.65 per barrel.

The DOW closed at 17356.87 gaining 288.00 points or 1.69%
