Good Morning,

Fed's Beige Book: US economy continues its modest expansion. United States Retail Sales (MoM) registered at 0.1%, below expectations (0.2%) in September. U.S. stocks edged higher in early trade Wednesday after a mixed start to the session, which saw the S&P 500 and Dow industrial open lower. Declines in the Dow industrial accelerated late Wednesday as a key report from the Federal Reserve offered a muted look at growth, hampered by a strong USD. U.S. stocks fell on Wednesday as Wal-Mart skidded after issuing a weak profit forecast, dragging down other big retailers, and as JPMorgan slipped after disappointing results. The NASDAQ composite tried to hold higher, as a rally of more than 10% in SanDisk on news it was exploring a potential sale boosted semiconductor stocks. USD sank to a seven-week low against a basket of currencies on Wednesday as more signs of slowing growth in the United States and China raised doubts the U.S. Federal Reserve will raise interest rates later this year. USDCHF is trading at 0.9496 while GBPUSD is trading at 1.5474.

Glencore: starts sale process for two copper mines in Australia and Chile. EURUSD is trading at 1.1476 while EURGBP is trading at 0.7413.

Mixed earnings from major U.S. banks, limp inflation figures from China and further declines in commodities also helped dampen the appetite for stocks and USD. AUDUSD is trading at 0.7321 while USDJPY is trading at 118.71.
