FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS BY NSFX 17.12.2014

Good morning,

Japanese trade figures released overnight show that both imports and exports in November were down, falling by more than had been expected by analysts. USDJPY trading at 117.12 at time of writing. New Zealand GDP figures are due for the third quarter in the next 24 hours (3.3% expected, from 3.9% previously). NZDUSD trading at 0.7733

The NIKKEI was trading at 16819.73 up 64.41 points or 0.38%

Today in Europe the Bank of England Meeting Minutes and Rate Vote numbers will be the main event along with Euro Zone Consumer Price Index. British voting figures are expected to remain unchanged at 2 electing for a hike and 7 unchanged. The EURGBP pair was trading at 0.7940 while CABLE was trading at 1.5719 at time of writing.

The FTSE100 closed at 6331.83 up 149.11 points or 2.41% while the DAX closed at 9563.89 gaining 229.88 points or 2.46%

In the US today the FED Interest Rate decision will be announced. The rate currently stands at 0.25% and expectations are that the Central Bank will increase the rate in the coming year, and leave rates unchanged today. The Fed’s Monetary Policy statement and Press Conference with Fed Chair Janet Yellen will also be closely watched. EURUSD trading at 1.2465 USOIL trading at $55.84 per barrel.

The DOW closed at 17068.87 down 111.97 points or minus 0.65%
