Good morning,
Bank of Japan's Governor Kuroda said once again that the central bank would take additional monetary easing steps if needed to achieve its 2% inflation target. USDJPY trading at 108.75 at time of writing. Foreign investment figures were out previous to the Governor's speech showing that stock investments by foreign buyers were gaining ground while bond purchases were down. The AiG Performance of Construction Index figures out of Australia fell to 45.2 from 46.1 previously. AUDUSD trading at 0.7567
The NIKKEI closed at 15749.84 for a gain of 34.48 points or 0.22% for the session.
In Europe this session France's Trade Balance plus Import and Export prices were released early in the day.Spanish Industrial Output figures and the Swiss Foreign Currency Reserves were also published this morning. Greek Unemployment figures will lead into the ECB Monetary Policy Meeting Accounts and then later today European Central Bank President Mario Draghi is scheduled to give a speech. EURCFH trading at 1.0886 while GOLD was trading at €1078 per ounce. Looking ahead to tomorrow Swiss Unemployment figures, German Trade Balance and British Industrial and Manufacturing data all on the agenda.
Across the Atlantic today we see Jobless Claims data out of the United States along with February's Consumer Credit change figures. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen is scheduled to speak this afternoon. EURUSD trading at 1.1404 with USDCAD trading at 1.3064 while USOIL is on offer at $38.67 per barrel at time of writing.
The DOW closed at 17716.05 for a gain of 112.73 points or 0.64% for the session.
